Schools in the running for Oscars of the education world.


A PRIMARY school where 'everyone strives for the best has been shortlisted in this year's 'education Oscars.


Two Bury schools feature in this year's TES Awards.


Chantlers Primary School and The Elton High School have been recognised nationally, with the Bury schools being shortlisted in the TES Awards, one of the country's top education awards.


Chantlers School has been shortlisted in two categories.

TES ­— Times Education Supplement ­— has just revealed the shortlist for its TES Schools Awards 2021.


Chantlers Primary School's Philip Barlow is a finalist in the Headteacher of the Year category. He is just one of eight in the country making it to this stage of the awards.


And the school is also in the running for Primary School of the Year.



Joanna Filkins at Elton High School is a finalist in the School Business Leader of the Year.


For the second year running, the awards will be held virtually because of the pandemic.


The awards are designed to celebrate the “extraordinary commitment shown by heads, team, teachers and teaching assistants”,


TES says that “schools have gone above and beyond to help their students access the very best in teaching and learning”.


Chantlers Primary School is an Ofsted-rated good school, with inspectors reporting, at Chantlers, everyone strives for the best. For pupils, this means ‘to be all around

amazing, not all the time but most of the time’.
